New PlayersSo, what is MOG anyway? So, what is MOG anyway?MOG is a simpler, shorter form of MMORPG, which stands for Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game. This refers to any game that you can play online with numerous other human players. An online 2v2 or 1v4 game doesn't really count. To be a MOG, a game must normally support hundreds, if not thousands, of players simultaneously. Today, there are more acronyms sprouting for different types of MOGs. For example, RTS stands for real-time strategy, so you may see MOGRTS. FPS stands for first-person shooter, so you may see MOGFPS. And why do moggers talk in acronyms? I can't understand a word!Deciphering MOG lingo can be difficult at first, but it's not impossible. Typing an acronym instead of a full-blown word can be very beneficial when that 50th level monster is chasing you down and you *really* need a quick heal from a buddy! Acronyms are unfortunately game-specific for the most part. In our magazine, we try to list any new terms we run across. And as we have time, we'll be adding a list of common terms here! Until then, try some of the websites we've listed, or post a message in the Lingo section of our forum area. |
